Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Go easy when you’re stuck

Car-stuck-in-snow

When stuck in mud or snow, don’t make the problem worse by damaging an expensive component. Gently rocking in an attempt to free the car is fine. But if it looks as though you’re really stuck, don’t keep at it. Throwing your car from forward to reverse repeatedly, as well as spinning tires at high speeds, can generate lots of heat and spell trouble for transmissions, clutches, and differentials. It may be cheaper in the long run to call the tow truck rather than risk big repair bills down the road. It’s a good idea to carry a traction aid in the trunk, such as sand, gravel, or cat litter.

Thank you to Richard for this great review on Google Maps!

"I recently purchased a car from Executive Kia , what an experience it was! the staff there went above and beyond to make me and my family feel welcomed, and not the robotic salesmen kinda welcome but a genuine, family welcome! Mike Golas was our salesman He was not only Helpful but a pleasure to work with. He understood the situation that I was suddenly faced with and did everything to Help out. He even showed up to work on his day off to make sure I would take delivery on my car by the time it was needed! It is that attention to detail that has earned Executive Kia a customer for life!" - Richard

The Kia Picanto Then and Now – A Design Transformation

Time for another trip down memory lane, but this time in Kia's one and only Picanto. Check out how this small city car grew to win over drivers across the globe, as well as judges for the 2012 red dot design award.

1999 (a.k.a. “Visto”)

1999_a
Here it is folks – Kia's very first Picanto, but it wasn’t called the Picanto just yet. It was commonly known as the Visto in the domestic Korean market, but was badged under the Hyundai brand with model names such as Amica, Atos Prime and Atoz for several overseas markets.

2000

2000

The 2000 edition got a bit heavier in weight, but still racked up an impressive 41.8 miles per gallon (US) and retained the same engine as the 1999 model.

2002

2002

You can start to see a little bit of today’s Picanto take shape here. This model still retained the same engine, but got lighter in weight, which increased its miles per gallon performance to 50.5.

2004 Picanto

2004_picanto

Goodbye Visto, hello Picanto! The Picanto, known as the Kia Morning in the domestic Korean market, featured new styling, spacious interior and multiple engine options: 1.0 and 1.1 liter gasoline and a 1.1 liter  diesel.

2007

2007
There was a major face lift in 2007 thanks to our design team who created a more prominent and rounded front and deeper rear bumper.

2008

2008
Kia Picanto’s lead designer laid down a strong design foundation and began to shape the car towards a recognizable Kia identity. The 2008 Picanto boasted a whole range of upgrades, especially in exterior styling with new front and rear bumpers, headlights, rear clusters, hood and electrically adjustable wing mirrors.

2010

2010

In 2010, Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer, began to put his design touches on the Picanto. Some additional styling changes gave the city car a fresher face with exterior enhancements including two-tone bumper and waistline body color molding. The Sports Pack edition featured the signature family-look Kia grille and sportier front/rear bumpers and side sill molding. It also became available in a new exciting Lime color and 15” black flower alloy wheels were offered as an option.

2011 – Present

2011__present

The power to surprise continues with new and dramatic design changes. The present day All-new Picanto features overall proportion changes along with an extended wheelbase and greater passenger space to enhance comfort and a feeling of sportiness. The main concept and design theme is “distinct & modern,” which emphasizes sophisticated styling that has the power to turn people’s heads when they see the sporty city car drive past.

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Don’t fill up if you see the tanker

Idwdepf

If you happen to see a gasoline tanker filling the tanks at your local gas station, come back another day or go to a different station. As the station’s underground tanks are being filled, the turbulence can stir up sediment. Sediment in your gas can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors, causing poor performance and possibly necessitating repairs.

A huge thanks to Tim D. for this glowing review on Google Maps!

"Thanks to Mike Schweikert and the Dealership Manager, John, for going out of their way to help me find the perfect car for my family. I love my Sportage! I had a great experience here - Mike was hysterical and kept the mood low pressure, even when i wasn't sure i was going with the Sportage and John gave me a great deal on my trade-in. I will definitely go back to Executive Kia and hope to work with Mike again. Great job guys!" - Tim D.

A big thanks to the author of this 5-star review on Google Maps!

"I began by thoroughly researching the vehicle I wanted. I was considering three cars: 1) Chevy Sonic, 2) the Hyundai Accent, and 3) the Kia Rio. The Kia Rio has great gas mileage, great safety record and an unbeatable warranty. Once I decided I wanted Kia Rio, I e-mailed 5 dealers with a price I thought was fair. My timeline to buy a car was limited. Executive Kia's internet response was timely and efficient. Executive Kia was the only dealership that beat my price! Two dealerships did not contact me until a week after I bought my car. The salesman at Executive Rio introduced me to all the managers at each department, such as the parts department. Many of the people working there have been there for a while. Everyone was very nice. The salesman took his time with me, answering all my questions. I got a great deal, with a great car from a great dealership. I would highly recommend that anyone who is considering buying a new car, Executive Rio is the place to go. Great service from an excellent dealership!" - jes123

Thank you to Barbara for this 5-star review on Google Maps! We appreciate your continued loyalty!

"My husband and I have been dealing with the Executive Auto Group since we bought our brand new 1999 Saturn (which we still own and love). When we needed a minivan we asked the salesman that helped us with our Saturn to help us and he found us a nice used 1998 Dodge Caravan. Now the time came to replace our Dodge minivan and we spotted the Honda Odyssey at Executive Kia. We stopped in to see Tucker (service manager) since we had dealt with him for many years and he introduced us to Joe. Joe is a wonderful young salesman that couldn't have been nicer. He took us out and we drove the van and immediately fell in love with it. Of course we now own it!! We like the comfortable feeling dealing with this group and look forward to many more years of continued service. The atmosphere, the people that work here and the service (Tucker and DJ) is what has kept us coming back. Thank you so much!" - Barbara

Kia partners with Wounded Warrior project to provide 2012 Soul to a disabled American veteran

La83891

At the 2012 New York International Auto Show opening ceremony this weekend, Kia Motors America (KMA) joined forces with the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization dedicated to providing help and raising public awareness for injured service members, to donate a 2012 Kia Soul hatchback to disabled veteran and United States Army Corporal Christopher Melendez. Melendez was injured in the line of duty while on routine patrol in Iraq by a "six pack shape charge" IED, resulting in severe leg and arm injuries. Working with the organizers of the New York International Auto Show, the Soul was modified to meet Melendez's specific day-to-day needs. This donation comes directly on the heels of Kia's donation to Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA's Operation Hero program in coordination with brand ambassador and professional women's golfer Michelle Wie.

"Kia Motors understands that it is not only important to show our commitment to the U.S. market through investment and job creation, but also to support the servicemen and women in our country's armed forces," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. "The Wounded Warrior Project provides invaluable services to the men and women who have been injured in the line of duty, and it is an honor to donate one of our most popular vehicles to Corporal Melendez as a way to show our appreciation and support for those who have sacrificed so much."

The 2012 Soul, retrofitted by New York-based Bussani Mobility Team was modified specifically to allow Corporal Melendez to continue with his daily activities through modifications that assist when flexibility is limited. The modifications include a steering wheel device that allows him to turn the steering wheel using one hand, while maintaining complete control of the wheel and car at all times, however all alterations are easily removable to allow others who do not need them to drive the vehicle safely.

The Most Awkwardly Hilarious Blake Griffin Kia Optima Commercials

Blake Griffin, Kia brand ambassador, power forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, Rookie of the Year and NBA All-Star. These titles and accolades are often used to describe the 6’10’’ slam dunk machine with his imposing presence and impressive moves on the court, but how about funnyman?

We’d like to present some of the most off-beat and hilarious 2012 Kia Optima commercials airing in the U.S., starring none other than our NBA superstar Blake Griffin.

Blake really knows how to use his detached expression and monotone voice to crack us up with his dry wit–you can tell he has a great sense of humor and the Optima commercials certainly show that.

What do you think?

Which of the above did you love/hate? Do you have an idea for a funny Blake Griffin commercial? Tell us! We’re listening. :)
